Abstract
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a chronic; multifactorial metabolic disorder characterized by insulin resistance and pancreatic β-cell dysfunction. It is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide; leading to significant morbidity and mortality. The disease is driven by both genetic and environmental factors that work in tandem to disrupt glucose homeostasis.
